FAQ
GENERAL ABOUT LED LIGHTING
Lumen is the total amount of light emitted by a light source, which can radiate in all directions.
Lux is the amount of light measured at a specific point. Loevschall typically specifies lux at a distance of 60 cm, as this is often the distance between upper cabinets and the countertop. Thus, we have the amount of light at a given point on a countertop.
The color of the light is measured in Kelvin. A black body is heated, for example, with a Bunsen burner. When enough heat is applied, the body starts to glow red. More heat is applied, and the body becomes yellow, white, and eventually blue. This is how the colors are defined. A low Kelvin value produces warm light, and the higher the Kelvin value, the cooler the light becomes.
The light source's ability to render colors accurately is measured by the Color Rendering Index (CRI), which indicates how well the light can reproduce colors. CRI is rated on a scale from 0 to 100, with a high value indicating good color rendering. The sun has a CRI value of 100. Many LED light sources struggle to reproduce the color red, which is significant because red appears in many of our food items, affecting our perception of these items on the kitchen countertop.
SingleWhite is Loevschall's name for an LED light source that emits a single color. Typically, it is around 3000 Kelvin, which is the most commonly used color in Scandinavia (warm white).
MultiWhite® is Loevschall's name for an LED light source that can emit multiple colors, ranging from cool to warm white. Typically, it ranges from 2100 Kelvin to 6500 Kelvin.
Loevschall's LED lights have a long lifespan of up to 50,000 lighting hours. The brightness of LED lights gradually decreases over time. When the LED light source reaches its lifespan, it will typically emit light at 70% brightness. After that, the brightness continues to diminish.
FAQ
Drivers
The driver load indicates how many watts a driver can deliver. The total load that can be connected to a driver is typically specified as a value in watts on the driver itself. The total wattage that can be connected to the driver must be less than or equal to the wattage stated on the driver.
The total wattage can be calculated as the wattage per light source, multiplied by the number of light sources.
A standard driver is one that has a constant voltage or current output, typically 12 volts or 350 mA. Do you want to dim the light, then this can be achieved by inserting a dimming device (controller) between the driver's output and the light. The controller is operated using an app or a remote control (kinetic switch).
A dimmable driver is capable of being dimmed on the input side - the 230V side, for example, through a rotary, slide, or touch dimmer installed in the wall. The light on the output side of the driver dims accordingly as the driver is dimmed on the input side.
FAQ
WIFI CONTROLLERS
When installing the controller in your Smart Life app, it's important that your device (mobile or tablet) is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network with internet access. It is very important, that your device is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Also, ensure that the controller is in Pairing Mode. (Look in the instruction manual and/or watch the videos: Connect the light to the Smart Life or Tuya app for MultiWhite® lights and SingleWhite lights if needed).
If you have moved residence or gotten a new WiFi router, you need to reinstall your controllers. Unless you setup the new WiFi network with the exact same WiFi name (SSID) and password.
Once the controller is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network, it can be operated from the app regardless of the type of internet connection your phone has, as long as your device is connected to the same 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Yes, you can. If you have already installed 12V LED spots in your rooms and want to control them using the app, Google, Amazon, or a Kinetic Switch, you simply need to connect them to a SingleWhite Controller, and then you can control them.
You must always use a standard driver - whether it's for a MultiWhite® or SingleWhite Controller.
No, you don't need to install the Smart Life app on your phone, in order to control your lights. If you purchase a Kinetic Switch, you can simply connect it to your controller, and then you can control the lights. This can be done without any WiFi network connection.
A Wi-Fi controller communicates with your phone via the 2.4GHZ WiFi network, while a Bluetooth controller communicates directly with your phone via Bluetooth. You cannot connect a Bluetooth Controller to a Kinetic Switch.
With a MultiWhite® Controller, you have the ability to adjust the color temperature (Kelvin) of your MultiWhite® spotlights. This means you can decide whether to have a cool white light in your rooms or a warmer more relaxing light. You can adjust this multiple times throughout the day. For example, white light in the morning helps wake us up, because the white color prevents the brain from producing more sleep-inducing hormones/chemicals. On the other hand, warm light towards the evening helps to calm down and achieve a better sleep.
A SingleWhite Controller cannot adjust the color temperature, but you can still dim the lights and turn it on/off.
If your controller has entered pairing mode and you want to stop it, leave the controller untouched for 5 minutes. It will automatically exit pairing mode afterwards.
When you want to control the light via an app control, you can use these apps: Tuya Smart (for WiFi), Smart Life - Smart Living (for WiFi).
A Kinetic Switch is a wireless switch that does not use batteries or any other external power source. It operates solely on the energy, that you as the user provide by pressing the button(s) to control the lights.
FAQ
ZIGBEE CONTROLLERS
Turn on the power to the controller for at least 5 seconds and turn it off after max. 10 seconds. Then turn on/off the power 4 times, the light should then start blinking and the controller will be visible to your Zigbee bridge/hub.
FAQ
LEDConnect
You can create up to maximum 6 meters in length, if you place them end to end.
It is 12.5 x 9 mm in size.
By butting two profiles against each other as shown in the manual.
No, it is not. It is IP20 rated.
Yes, via wall switch with dimmer (use dimmable driver) or Yes, via app/remote control (use standard (non-dimmable) driver combined with WiFi controller)
LEDconnect has two options: 3000K (warm white) or 4000K (cool white), which are selected during installation. Use the included adaptor to achieve 3000K.
You can cut it to the desired length. Having wires at both ends means you have two usable LED light sources.
Yes, if you use the full length of the LED strip, one of the wires can be cut off.
There are cutting marks shown on the LED strip.
No, the light is soft and comfortable without dots.
Metal saw, scissors, Torx 10 screwdriver, tape measure, side cutters.
Yes, 2 meters, by using our standard 12V extension cord.
We recommend a minimum of two brackets, with a maximum spacing of 80 cm between each bracket. One bracket should be placed under each cabinet. The brackets are mounted on the bottom plate.
Wipe gently with a well-wrung cloth.
